The route

For its twelfth edition, the Raid proposes an outline of what are going to be 5 unforgettable days of race in the middle of the Pays Cathare. From Aude to Ariège, you will cross varied landscapes and you will go back in time.

The first day is 50km long and includes 1500m of accumulated height difference. You will begin rising you over Quillan through steep woody slopes, and then the mountain bike will allow you to explore a closed valley beauty and quiet, just before facing the murmurs of the Aude.

To start J2 (the 2nd day), you will begin on foot, and then on mountain bike, going through the majestic Puivert’s Castle. The soft relief of the region will allow you, after 51km long and 1400m of height difference, to easily reach the Montbel Lake where you will have the opportunity to show your swimming and marksman/markswoman talents.

Twelfth edition of the Raid is not called “Pays Cathare” for nothing! You will leave the soft hills to reach more steep scenarios and you will go to the assault of Roquefixade’s Castle where is going to take place the VIP checkpoint. You will experience all of this before riding to Foix, the last point of a 37km long and 1600m of height difference journey.

The Raid turns southward this day. J4 (the 4th day) will be unquestionably the most physical day of this twelfth edition. You will test your limits in a route of more than 2000m of accumulated height difference and 55km long. After going across the Foix Valley, you will ride by the heights, from valley to valley, and you will discover a shining mountain range of the Pyrenees, just before deeply exploring the massif. You will find then a well deserved rest in the charming little village of Auzat.

With the aim of finishing on the beauty, you will enter to the Purity domain and you will face the lasts winter tracks. Finally, the descent on foot will allow you to join more clement heights and to rest you at the end of the 30km long and 2000m of accumulated height difference.
