Then this event was created for you!
What is the Prologue?
While the Raid is celebrating its 11th edition this year, it will only be the 5th edition of the Prologue. This is the occasion for competing students to meet the organisation team and to discover the Raid's atmosphere.
This year's edition will consist in :
- 25 km of mountain-biking,
- 20 km of running and orienteering course,
- biathlon
Attention: It's not mandatory that you participate in the Prologue to run the Raid, and vice-versa. Still it may validate the 'over-10 Kms race' required to run the Raid.
The Prologue will take place on Saturday, February 13th, 2010 in the forest of Fontainebleau and will oppose 37 teams of 4 students each. This will give you the opportunity to warm up a little and can be a good training for the Raid.
Why the Prologue?
First of all, because, in order to participate in the Raid, every competitor must have run, during the year preceding the Raid, at least one of the following courses :
- running of at least 10 kms
- mountain bike of at least 50 kms
- cross country skiing of at least 20kms
The prologue, organised by the Raid itself, is considered as an 'official course'.
There, you should be able to meet the other students who will be competing with you the Raid's 2009 edition and thereby to have a first contact with them. Moreover, numerous competitors have difficulties in raising a team of 4 people. During that day, everything will be arranged so as to ease the encounters, thus the fomation of complete teams.
What will we do during the prologue?
This will be a day of the same type of the ones you will enjoy during the Raid. Those who have never run the Raid will therefore have a chance to see what they should be expecting...
You will spend this day in a 4 member team. Contrarily to what happens on the Raid, teams do not have to be made of both men and women. If you don't have a team yet, or if some people in your team can't come, don't worry! We will be regrouping incomplete teams.
You will find RAID's typical trials: running, mountain bike, orienteering course and even biathlon ! Mountains bikes will be supplied by us. But don't forget warm clothes (it's during the winter), and gloves for mountain biking.
You will be given an opportunity to compare yourself to other challengers. For those who are not sure to be in shape for the Raid, this event will be the best way to test your limits.
It will take place on the 7th February at 9 am at the EIS (Ecole Interarmée des Sports) of Fontainebleau. A bus will leave from Denfert-Rochereau in Paris (there is a RER stop here on the B line) at 7:15 am. It will pass at Ecole Centrale Paris at 7:45 am: register and let us know where you will take the bus. You can also go by your own ways (the address is Rue du Bois des Archives, via the road N6).
The costs for registering are 30€ per person (+4€ if you take the bus). You will be supplied during the route with some food. A break is planned for lunch, which is also provided by the Raid.
