What is the prologue?

While the Raid is celebrating its 10th edition this year, it will only be the 3rd edition of the Prologue. This is the occasion for competing students to meet the organisation team and to discover the Raid's atmosphere.

This yearà€™s edition will consist in :

• 25 km of mountain-biking,
• 20 km of running and orienteering,
• biathlon

You do not necesseraly have to participate in the prologue to run the Raid, and reciprocally. Still it may validate the 'over-10 Kms race' required to run the Raid.

Because of the success of the first 2 editions held in Fontainebleau, we have decided to raise the number of competitors. The Prologue will take place on Saturday, February 16th, 2008 in the forest of Rambouillet, Yvelines and will oppose 35 teams of 4 students each (instead of 23 teams in the first 2 editions). This will give you the opportunity to warm up a little and can be a good training for the Raid.

Le Prologue et Air France

Partenaire du Raid depuis de nombreuses années, Air France a toujours participé à l'amélioration du Raid, en participant par exemple à l'amélioration du chronométrage. Cette année, Air France a tenu à s'associer à cette édition du Prologue en devenant notre partenaire exclusif. Pour cette raison, et en accord avec l'esprit du raid, Air France alignera 2 équipes sur le Prologue qui courront la journée comme tout étudiant. Nous aurons également le plaisir d'avoir sur la journée des VIPs de Air France.

Why the prologue?

First of all, because, in order to participate in the Raid, every competitor must have run, during the year preceding the Raid, at least one of the following courses :

• running of at least 10 kms
• mountain bike of at least 50 kms
• cross country skiing of at least 20kms

The prologue, organised by the Raid itself, is considered as an 'official course'.

There, you should be able to meet the other students who will be competing with you to the Raid, edition 2008 and thereby to have a first contact with them. Moreover, numerous competitors have difficulties in raising a team of 4 people. During that day, everything will be arranged so as to ease the encounters, thus the fomation of complete teams.

What will we do during the prologue?

This will be a day the type of wich you will enjoy during the Raid. Those who have never run the Raid will therefore have a chance to see what they should be expecting...

You will spend this day in a 4 member team. On the contrary to the Raid, the teams can eventually be not mixed. If you don't have a team yet, or if some people in your team can't come, don't worry! We will regroup the teams which are not complete.

You will find trials which are typical of the Raid : running, mountain bike, course guidance and even biathlon ! Mountains bikes will be supplied by the Raid. But don't forget warm clothes (it will be winter), and gloves for mountain biking.

It will take place on the 16th February at 9 am at the Salle Polyvalente (multi-purpose room) of La Celle les Bordes. A bus will leave from Denfert-Rochereau in Paris (there is a RER stop here on the B line) at 7:15 am. It will pass at Centrale at 7:45 am : register and let us know where you will take the bus. You can also go there on your own (rue du Bois des Goules, via the road D72)

The costs for registering are 26€ per person (+4€ if you take the bus). You will be supplied during the route with some food. A break is planned for lunch, which is also provided by the Raid.
