Put in practice for several years, it gives an overview of emission factors of our various activities. The renewal of carbon from one year to another enable us to analyze the evolution of our activities regarding carbon emissions and also to identify areas for improvement.

Here the carbon footprint of the 2009 Raid Total Centrale Paris.

CO2 emissions related to the exclusive business of the staff and purchases made directly by the organizing team, gathered in the internal review:
    • Over half of these emissions come from travel of staff (Multiple Featured Pre-Raid, travel during the week of Raid).
    • Transport equipment (transport of food, tents and other) also represents 12% of the internal review.
The last 33% is divided on:
    • Food (consumed by the organizing team for the days of tracking and all competitors and participants in the week of Raid).
    • The internal energy (heat and electricity in the premises of the raid).
    • Depreciation (equipment, furniture, premises owned by the raid).
    • Paper (printing of posters, brochures, booklets competitors ...).
    • The waste produced before and during the raid.

Total Review

Emissions of greenhouse gas are related to our internal processes, but also indirect peripheral activities. Therefore, we also recorded during recent establishment of our total carbon footprint.

Some balance sheet items of Raid off from the other: thus, the preponderance of the impact of moving people is even more pronounced here than in the internal review. It is the main impact of the Raid on the environment, so one of the strong commitment of our organization is measuring and reducing our consumption of fuel.

The transport of competitors is strongly influenced by the emergence on the raid of a Chinese team making the trip by plane. Indeed, among the core values of the Raid, there are exchanges, contact and openness to international ,while the majority of emissions of CO2 of Raid Total Centrale Paris comes from transporting people is finally a beautiful proof of the importance of this aspect of the sporting event in our mind.
